ANYWAY

I came across this poem recently, written by Mother Teresa. I think it is beautiful and so true, yet so hard to do. It's called:

Anyway
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough;
Give the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between YOU and GOD;
It was never between you and them anyway.

Oh Auntie Martha, I LOVE that poem! I'm glad you posted it, because I printed it once and lost it and couldn't remember who wrote it. Beautiful words to live by. If we all lived like that, the world would be a better place.

It's so funny that you posted this poem by Mother Teresa because I have been reading a lot of her quotes and poems lately. That woman was unbelievable! If only we all could put some of that poem into practice.

I love that quote, especially the last line. How true and some how so easy to forget it seems.

Is`nt this just so beautiful and well-said? Living up to it being the real task! It almost deserves to be required reading for the entire human race!!
